I feel obligated to post something about the elephant in the room: Tiger Woods was in a single car crash with a tree in front of his house, well after midnight, in the wee hours of Black Friday morning.
Of course, I don't have to tell you this, because every time Woods so much as sneezes, the entire nation hears about it (even my 87-year-old grandmother knows).
However, there are a few new developments: Woods has dropped out of the Chevron World Challenge, citing injuries from his crash. His sponsors, Nike and Gatorade, pledge to stand by their spokesman. Additionally, a news conference scheduled for today has been cancelled.
I have heard a variety of anecdotes concerning the crash, which I can only describe as rumors at this time: Mrs. Woods broke the back window with a golf club, and much worse.
Do any of these rumors have merit? Was it an innocent situation gone wrong?
